Ask your favorite brands to stop using microplastics

Our mission

Stop the plastic soup tsunami as soon as possible! If we do not achieve this, we are leaving future generations with a terrible plastic plague. We are a ‘single issue’ environmental organization that is concerned with one thing: stopping plastic pollution at its source.

As part of this mission, we call out the industry and government where they fall short. We also put a special focus on the relationship between plastics and human health. Our recent work in this field includes campaigns on microplastics and the health effects of plastic waste, and especially our Plastic Health Summit. Finally, education underlies everything we do, as we believe that children are the future.

We, humans, are the source of plastic pollution; the plastic soup starts on our very own doorstep. But together we can do much more to stop plastic waste than we think!

Our Impact

Plastic Health Summit

The Plastic Health Summit 2019 was the very first congress in the world on the effects of plastic on our health. It reached almost 400 million people.

BEAT THE MICROBEAD

With this campaign we have already convinced 448 cosmetic brands to stop using plastic microbeads, reducing plastic pollution in our waters due to cosmetics.

Ocean Clean Wash

In 2014 we started addressing the problem of plastic microfibers and have since found various solutions to prevent ocean pollution by plastic fibers.

World Cleanup Day

A great success: almost 40,000 participants took part in more than 2,517 cleanup actions in the Netherlands. We found that single-use plastic accounts for 74% of all found litter.

EDUCATION

Annually we reach more than 130,000 children in the Netherlands and Belgium with our free educational program about plastic soup for elementary and middle schools.
